James DeWalt is blessed to live in the small mountain community of Nederland, Colorado. He got his start on the road of DSLR photography in 2007, inspired by the surrounding natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains, as well as living in an area rich with activities and artistry. Being a multi-hobbiest, he tries to capture a visual presentation of life as he sees it in all of his favorite activites. When asked why he shoots, unless it's working for a client, the response is generally "I shoot for those who cannot be with me".
To date his focus has been on nature and scenery, as well as a passion for live music, artisanship that the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies is famous for. He has also has endevoured to work in the realms of product photography as well as large events, being a photographer for local festivals NedFest and Frozen Dead Guy Days. He's often seen out and about with his camera taking shots of just about everything from goings on around town, to solitary walks in the woods and mountains, to strolls in Boulder and Denver. "Simply living here is a blessing alone, but as a photographer, it's nearly impossible for me to run out of things to shoot!"
James strives to live with the understanding that variety is the spice of life, and it reflects in his many hobbies and educational "quests". He spent many years as a Chef and Bar Tender/Manager, which allowed him the oportunity to pursue interests in snowboarding, hiking and backpacking, and rock climbing, as well as non "active" pursuits in live music, digital artistry and photography. "Having added photography to my toolbelt, I can now capture a visual representation of what it is that I enjoy in all of my other interests, and share what I've learned and where I've been, hopefully in a way that others actually feel, rather than simply view".
